Today’s News Synopsis:
A recent survey from NAHB showed out of the 75% of adults who know what career path they want, only 3% are interested in a job in construction. Transactions involving prime jumbo residential mortgage-backed securities increased by twice as much over the past year according to Fitch Ratings. The Mortgage Bankers Association reported a 1.8% decrease in mortgage applications for the week ending April 14.

Looking Back:
Both HUD and the Commerce Department reported housing starts decreased by 8.8% the previous month and stood at 1.089 million. The NAHB reported builder confidence continued to remain high at 58 for three months. Another aspect of the market that also saw an increase the previous month was the volume of first-time buyers.
